Routine IVH/PVL Screening Recommendations

Purpose:

Standardized recommendations for obtaining HUS when screening for IVH and PVL in premature infants.  Recommendations are based on an internal review of our local incidence and frequency of IVH/PVL at various GA.  

Neonatal clinical guidelines, protocols, pathways, and algorithms for neurovascular care.

The goal is promote judicious use of radiology resources and to provide predictability of screening for parents and staff.

It  was developed with evidence-based principles, multi-disciplinary collaboration, and individualized and family-centered approaches to caring for the neonate.

Population:

Infants <30wks EGA and others who may be at higher risk for IVH/PVL
