Respiratory Management
Purpose:
A pathway for approaching the management of continuous positive airway pressure and heated, humidified, high-flow nasal cannula forms of noninvasive ventilation.
It provides guidelines for the initiation, maintenance, weaning, and discontinuation of these forms of respiratory support.
The pathway also provides suggested criteria for determining intolerance or failure of weaning, as well as the discontinuation of respiratory support.
The guideline was developed with evidence-based principles, multi-disciplinary collaboration, and individualized and family-centered approaches to caring for the neonate.
Population:
Infants >28wks EGA
